What were the shortfalls of your goals for 2019
Posted: December 31, 2019
You’ve heard the expression, “to move forward you have to sometimes take a step back” right? As the new year is upon us it makes sense to me to look back at goals that weren’t achieved in 2019 and reflect (DO NOT dwell) on why they were missed. I have found the exercise in my own life quite constructive. If you’re curious here are some of the mistakes I have made that have prevented my goal attainment
1. Set the goal too big… being overly optimistic can sometimes be just as challenging as being a pessimist.
2. Setting too many goals… while ambition is admirable, diffused focus doesn’t do any goal any favors
3. Failing to account for my daily time and energy… wanting do get something done is great but failing to account for the necessary and natural drain life events, both reoccurring and unexpected will halt all good intentions
4. Not leaving enough empty space for recharge…While blocking out an hour or two on a Sunday may look fine on paper I seemed to more consistently underestimate than overestimate how long it will take to restore my energy to it’s highest levels after a consistently period of productivity.
As a reflect back on 2019, those are mine, are yours similar or completely different? What’s ironic is that I know better than to do all of these things, yet once the year starts without conscious focus, I will still be susceptible. I assure you, this year, I am going to put some strategies in place to increase my chances of not repeating the same errors. Please join in making 2020 a pivotal year in health, happiness and abundance.
