Do Something Today Your future self would thank you for...

From time to time, you hear about someone at the end of life reflecting on the life they lived. It’s always nice when someone arrives and feels like they have no regrets and it is always painfully sad when someone looks back with regret, wishing they made different decisions that may have added to the quality of their life or the life of a loved one.
When the urge to not follow though hits you, how do you handle it? Afterall, does it really matter if you skip a single day of doing the discipline? The answer is yes it does! We are all going to be derailed for good reasons from time to time. It may be sickness, attention that must be given in another area of your life that is important, or a crisis with someone you love. Derailment is going to happen, and it is ok. What is not OK is if derailment happens because of a lack of discipline. This will create momentum that will become hard to stop and before you know it will have you moving in a backwards direction.
A good question to ask yourself when you are justifying a reason for not following though is whether your future self would consider the reason important enough to not follow through. Thinking like this helps to add a long-term perspective to the choices you make and will become a compass that will always point you in the direction of behaving in a way that will create long term results.
