Could Life Really Be That Simple?
By Master Christopher Rappold
The Four Agreements is a book written by 62-year-old author Don Miguel Ruiz who focuses on the Ancient Toltec teachings to achieve happiness. In his easy-read book he goes in depth to what he has come to believe is the way to have greater peace and happiness in your life.
The Four Agreements are:
1. Be impeccable with your words
2. Don't take anything personally
3. Don't make assumptions
4. Always do your best
Sounds kind of simple right? Well, stop and think about how much energy would be saved and how your relationships would improve if you committed to only speak with total integrity and love as the center piece of your intentions.
How about being immune to the needless drain of emotion by remembering that people's actions are their own and very rarely does it have anything to do with you?
How about the time and drama that would be saved if instead of trying to figure out another’s intentions you agreed to communicate until both sides at least respectfully understand the differences that exist?
And how about the gift you give yourself when you truly commit in everything you do to always do the best you can?
Could life really be that simple? I don't pretend to know the answer to that question, but what I can say is that by applying this level of commitment each and every day you will arrive at a place of calm with peace in your heart.
