As mentioned, the holidays are upon us and if you are like most what comes with the holiday cheer is the Holiday stress. Stress in December comes in many forms; the stress of what to get the stress of the year ending and still having things to do and maybe the stress of increased traffic and shopping lines. Well here are a few more tips to help you turn down the stress and use the time to bring you back to center.
4. Pay attention to how you feel There are definitely times when more push is required but be in tune with how you feel. If you feeling a little off maybe the best thing for you to do is rest. At times., I know this can stress us out a bit because we feel like we are not getting things done today, but if you look at the entire month, I think you will always find that taking a down day to prevent a full blown cold or flu will be a much better investment than pushing for through a single day of half focus activity and needing to take 3 additional days off because you didn’t listen to what your body was telling you.
5. Focus on the present It is said that stress comes from only two things; either dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. If you really stop to think about it, you will find that it is true. Every time you start to feel the pull of these two things, recognize it and gently bring your focus back to what you are presently doing.
6. Create a Space of Peace At times, mindfully creating an environment that makes us feel relaxed is just the right prescription for making us feel better. Maybe it is a comfortable chair, a different room in the house that doesn’t have a TV, or taking some quiet time at lunch instead of gathering around the same people you usually eat with can give you a little break in the action of your busy day.
