John Mosca in Norton - Personal Best Karate

John Mosca

My name is John Mosca and I am a 3rd Degree Black Belt.   As the head instructor at Personal Best Karate of Norwood, it is my primary goal and responsibility to help the students understand what it means to be their “Personal Best” and how to use it to set and achieve their goals.  I take great pride in guiding them every step of the way. Our programs have the ability to truly transform the lives of youngsters, teens and adults.

The Personal Best children’s curriculum builds confidence, improves self-esteem, and teaches children the habits needed to focus so they become better academic students.  The younger students learn respect, modesty, integrity and other important life skills.  The Personal Best Character Education program continually reinforces life skills that prepare children for the everyday challenges they will face at school and in other social situations.

The Personal Best program prides itself on blending the best of traditional martial arts with real world functional self-defense skills.  Students learn a combination of distancing, posture and positioning, self-escapes as well as how to strike using punches, kicks, knees and elbows.   Our teens and adults love the improvement they see and feel in their strength, endurance, flexibility and overall body tone.  All the students enjoy the feeling of accomplishment as they progress through our rewards based belt system.

As an instructor, what makes me most proud is when I can be a positive part of students overcoming worries, doubts and fears as they progress through the ranks and find the potential that lies within. There is no greater reward for me than to see students with a newfound confidence and belief overcome once-limiting obstacles on their way to becoming high achieving individuals.  I am proud to serve the community inside and outside the school doors in such a positive way.
