Barbara Mosca in Norton - Personal Best Karate

Barbara Mosca

My name is Barbara Mosca and I am a 2nd degree Black Belt.   When my youngest son, Dylan, was diagnosed with autism I left corporate America and stayed home for a year and a half to facilitate 40 hours a week of therapy.  In that time, experiencing all the wonderful caring therapists and teachers helping in my home, I decided I wanted to make a difference.

I was 35 years old, out of shape and 60 pounds heavier.  At the suggestion of my son’s karate teacher, I started classes twice a week and in just one summer I lost 30 pounds.  From there my experience of watching my four-year-old son on the karate floor becoming this great listener and student combined with my new-found fitness and health from my own classes at Personal Best, I knew what I had to do.

As  4- 6 year old instructor at Personal Best Karate in Norwood, the school has become an amazing part of our families life.   I love seeing and being a part of the difference that is made in the children as they learn new skills and enjoy the improvements in their concentration, self-control and focus.  I believe it is such an advantage to a child when values like good manners and self-confidence is built inside and outside the home.

It’s also gratifying for me when parents view their children’s classes from the sidelines and decide, like I once did, to give the adult classes a try.  They immediately realize that the Personal Best Curriculum is so much more than just a great place for their youngsters.  They experience the immediate benefit of stress release, better focus and improved level of fitness.  Personal Best becomes for them a place their whole family can learn grow and become healthy and fit together.

It gives me great pride to be a part of seeing our students excel inside and outside of Personal Best.  Most of our students pride themselves on being high academic achievers and active members of the community.   I am so proud that our students consider Personal Best a safe place full of friendships and a strong sense of community.
